I think the least I can do as you have kindly offered the use of your scroller free of charge is leave you some feedback. I looked around and the Tigra scroller was by far the most user friendly and easy adaptable free scroller. We are a voluntary organisation and cost is I'm afraid a big concern for us. I am putting the scroller onto our site which I take care of as well as a thousand other jobs so it might be a while before its live but this is were it will be http://www.parentsinneedofsupport.co.uk

Rather than a free tool that you can use "out of the box" it is a sprat to catch a mackerel. It is free, but to use it you have to go with one of the four samples they give and adapt around that, or understand enough about Javascript programming to work out how to change it for your needs. I found the slowest scrolling speed (with the parameter 1) too fast for my needs, but I changed the delay time from 40 miliseconds to 180 and now it is just right for what I want. If you want a tool that you can use without knowing what is going on underneath then you may find the Pro version what you need, but if you know enough to tinker then this might suit you very well. Give it a go, it is free for non commercial/private use, see the license.

Worthwhile experience using it - xcept IE:(

Putting code in small sections has advantages except when you want only one particular piece. It took some time to follow the yellow brick road through the various files. Not your fault that I was asked to add a news 'ticker' to an already complex page. It's working well but IE is doing some weird stuff that I can't figure out. It will not accept a background image (love dragonkeep, by the way) and will only use the specified background color where there is text. So you see white areas in a dark green setting - eeeesh. Here's where you can find the page I used it on. http://holycrosshs-ct.com/htmlnew/homepage.html It shows our new look. Use IE and you'll see 1) it loads all the (large) slides in serial form until it 'discovers' they are shown as slides. 2) a white blob in the mockup news window. There is a list of contributers to that page's code and a discovery that in programming it really does take a village.

Just a little bit more

It's a very useful and well done resource, but I didn't found any option that solves the cases when div, frame, or box that will contain the text to be scrolled don't have an absolute height value (browser's window 100% covered, with both scrollbars disabled or hidden).

Couldn`t get it to run.

I could not get this to work in my Classic ASP site. I fought with it for about 20 minutes and then gave up. It should not have been that difficult to incorporate into the existing code. The documentation was not clear at all on how to configure the application.

Very good and useful general purpose scroller. Easy to set up and use. Well done guys!

Fair Enough

I've found this scroller as a useful tool, it is not an excellent but a fair solution to a simple scroller I wish it could be easier to use but at this time it solved my problem by letting me put a simple but clear news square, thanks guys!!!
